Warning to Trump: Moscow has upped the ante in Syria

[From https://consortiumnews.com/2018/09/09/moscow-has-upped-the-ante-in-syria/] As Syrian forces backed by Russia launch the final showdown in Syria against jihadist extremists in Idlib province, the potential for a U.S.-Russia confrontation has never been greater, as VIPS warns in this memo to the president. September 9, 2018

MEMORANDUM FOR: The President

FROM: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity

SUBJECT: Moscow Has Upped the Ante in Syria

Mr. President:

We are concerned that you may not have been adequately briefed on the upsurge of hostilities in northwestern Syria, where Syrian armed forces with Russian support have launched a full-out campaign to take back the al-Nusra/al-Qaeda/ISIS-infested province of Idlib.  The Syrians will almost certainly succeed, as they did in late 2016 in Aleppo.  As in Aleppo, it will mean unspeakable carnage, unless someone finally tells the insurgents theirs is a lost cause.

That someone is you.

Young male suicide & drug OD rates similarities point to socioeconomic change causes

Mortality rates of young Australian men due to suicide and accidental drug overdose appear to follow a strikingly similar pattern, as observed in statistics provided by the ABS.

A study led by UNSW has uncovered a remarkable correlation between mortality rates from drug overdoses and suicides in young Australian men across a 30 year period.

Led by UNSW Public Health Professor Richard Taylor, the study brought together researchers with backgrounds in medicine, psychiatry, epidemiology and drug and alcohol counselling.

In a paper published in BMC Public Health recently, the group examined data collected from the Australian Bureau of Statistics between 1979 and 2011 on the mortality rates of males between the ages of 20 and 34.

Syria Presents UN with Data on Militant Plans to Stage False Flag Gas Attack

Syria provides the United Nations with evidence revealing yet another plot by Takfiri terrorists to carry out a chemical attack in militant-held Idlib Province and pin the blame on Damascus with the aim of justifying an ensuing act of aggression against the Arab country by their foreign supporters.

Eye disease, which makes people blind, is on the rise

A new study into recent cases of Ocular Syphilis warns increasing numbers of people in developed countries are at risk of permanent damage to their vision, even with adequate treatment. More cases in the United States, Europe, and Australia show that it is not only a problem in Brazil.

Inquiry on future of petitioning in Parliament - submissions sought

The House Standing Committee on Petitions has today launched its inquiry into the future of petitioning in the House. Chair of the Petitions Committee, Lucy Wicks MP, said the Committee wants petitioning the House of Representatives to be accessible and relevant to all Australians.

Why didn't Voltaire recognise hate speech and realise it was a problem?

During the 80 years following 1789 that it took for the French Revolution to acheive its aims as the Third Republic, the people of the third estate (that is neither church nor noble) launched many newspapers and founded many societies where they could meet and discuss matters. With the support of the church and the powerful, the State attempted to close down all these newspapers and to prevent people from distributing them. Finally meetings became almost impossible. Because of this, the 1848 revolution was organised through a series of massive banquets, held all over France, at one stage, on an average of every three weeks. Maybe this is what ordinary Americans should do, because their political masters certainly want to scuttle any real political debate by targeting the alternative media - starting with the US's Alex Jones, an independent radio show host operating from Texas. Jones is possibly the biggest threat to the corporate 'mainstream' media. The Alex Jones Channel on YouTube existed for over ten years and reputedly had over a billion views, [1] but it has suddenly been banned by YouTube.

Melbourne bursts its seams as Australia's population hits 25m - aerial photos

The Victorian branch of Sustainable Population Australia (SPA) expresses deep concern that Australia will reach 25 million people this week. In anticipation of this milestone, SPA literally took to the sky on the issue by flying a small plane over Melbourne to see first hand whether bigger means better.

Victorian government captive to farm sector propaganda - farm stock predation wildly exaggerated

The National Dingo Preservation and Recover Program (NDPRP) today congratulated the Victorian government for recent progressive policy initiatives regarding dingo conservation in that state. This has included recognition of aspirations for protection of the dingo by Indigenous Victorians. Policy references to protecting apex predator function within Victorian ecosystems, including in north western Victoria, are welcome and long overdue. The NDPRP, however, called upon the Victorian government to follow through in practice and to cease being captive to the environmentally draconian ideas still propagated by reactionary elements within the farming lobby.

Vocal Animal interviews Michael Bayliss on Australia's overpopulation problem

Michael Bayliss, spokesperson for Sustainable Population Australia, speaks up for wildlife and for a sustainable population policy in Australia on Vocal Animal. Note that Michael also advocates a vegan diet for humans, but we do not, even though we publish pro-vegan articles from time to time. A major reason we do not advocate such a diet is that it does not satisfy requirements for animal-sourced vitamins, and can be fatal and disabling. See Incurable Alzheimers or curable B12 deficiency? An epidemic of wilful medical ignorance. (Sorry, Michael, but thanks for a really great interview on population, sticking up for animals. Also, feel free to comment and argue this point.)

Video: Tucker Carlson opposes United States' war against Iran, high immigration, ...

Except for his unfortunate argument over abortion with Sonia Ossorio (pictured right), President of the New York City Chapter of the National Organisation for Women (NOW), I found myself in almost complete agreement with Tucker Carlson in his 24 July episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight (38 minutes in length). This episode includes debate and discussion of a number of important developments and issues in United States politics - border control, abortion and the ongoing attempts by the establishment, supported by the Democrats, 'leftists' and even much of the Republican Party, to oust President Trump. Carlson interviewed and debated Jeff Weaver a spokesperson for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a socialist in the Democratic Party. Also, early in this episode, Tucker Carlson (pictured left) argued strongly and in great detail why he was opposed to war against Iran.

Red Alert: Changes removing prohibitions on intensive pig and poultry farming in Victoria

"Single-minded focus on economics allows thousands of pigs and poultry to be kept, and if you're next door in any rural or green wedge or urban growth zone, your rights to know about it, object and go to VCAT are being extinguished. This Affects all rural and regional areas of Victoria, and Green Wedge and Urban Growth zones in metropolitan Melbourne. Pig and poultry business interests, and State government, are very happy. The rest, and the environment, can fade away." Macedon Ranges Residents' Association has distilled a huge body of information about shocking rule-changes for intensification of pig and poultry farming in Victoria's Green Wedges, called, in the bullying way of our political class, "Getting things done." We have kept the original formatting for the time being, for practical reasons. Thanks to Christine Pruneau, Secretary of the Association, for putting her extensive knowledge at our disposal.

The War on Assange Is a War on Press Freedom

This article by Chris Hedges has also been published on Truthdig (15/7/18) and Russia Insider (22/7/18):

UPDATE: 23/7/2018 Worldwide protests being organised against the eviction of Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian Embassy. See here and here.

The failure on the part of establishment media to defend Julian Assange, who has been trapped in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London since 2012, has been denied communication with the outside world since March and appears to be facing imminent expulsion and arrest, is astonishing. The extradition of the publisher—the maniacal goal of the U.S. government—would set a legal precedent that would criminalize any journalistic oversight or investigation of the corporate state. It would turn leaks and whistleblowing into treason. It would shroud in total secrecy the actions of the ruling global elites. If Assange is extradited to the United States and sentenced, The New York Times, The Washington Post and every other media organization, no matter how tepid their coverage of the corporate state, would be subject to the same draconian censorship. Under the precedent set, Donald Trump's Supreme Court would enthusiastically uphold the arrest and imprisonment of any publisher, editor or reporter in the name of national security.

Video: Zakharova: Who actually rules Germany? Americans still militarily occupy the German people

Recently Donald Trump accused Germany of being dangerously dependent on fuel imported from Russia. The Russian foreign minister has responded to this sally by pointing out that Germany is still occupied militarily by the United States Army. As for importing fuel from Russia, Germany has done so for over 50 years, reliably, without interruption due to political differences. Trump wants to sell fracked fuel from the US to Germany and other parts of Europe. Inside is a video with the Russian foreign minister's comment.

The Wifi Alliance, Coming soon to your neighborhood: 5G Wireless

Just as any new technology claims to offer the most advanced development; that their definition of progress will cure society’s ills or make life easier by eliminating the drudgery of antiquated appliances, the Wifi Alliance was organized as a worldwide wireless network to connect "everyone and everything, everywhere" as it promised "improvements to nearly every aspect of daily life."

The Alliance, which makes no pretense of potential health or environmental concerns, further proclaimed (and they may be correct) that there are "more wifi devices than people on earth". It is that inescapable exposure to ubiquitous wireless technologies wherein lies the problem.

No Need For Nato (2 July 2018)

A NATO summit approaches that brings Donald Trump to Europe and then on to these shores, and brings the usual clamour for more of the taxpayers’ money to be given to arms manufacturers.

Yet NATO is a demonstrably useless institution. It’s largest ever active military deployment, for 12 years in Afghanistan, resulted in military defeat throughout 80% of the country, the installation of a pocket regime whose scrip does not run further than you can throw the scrip, and a vast outflow of heroin to finance the criminal underworld throughout NATO countries.

Birrell, Healey: Immigration and the Housing Affordability Crisis in Sydney and Melbourne, July 2018

House prices are higher in Sydney and Melbourne than in almost all other developed-nation cities with the result that most young households cannot afford to buy a detached house. Why? Part of the explanation is a combination of generous tax benefits to investors and upgrading home owners. This has prompted massive investment in dwellings, but mostly in established detached housing. This investment drives up prices without adding to supply. Video: Israeli 'justifies' military aggression, feigns neutrality in terrorists' war against Syria

The embedded video is from Occupational hazards? Daniel Ayalon, former deputy foreign minister of Israel, the 21 June Episode of RT's World's Apart In that program presenter Oksana Boyko (pictured left) interviews Daniel Ayalon (pictured right) about Israel's recent aerial bombardments of pro-Syrian-government forces inside Syria.

Oksana Boyko successfully challenged most, but not all, of Ayalon's lies and distortions.

Ayalon's supposed justification for Israel's violation of international law is that they were only attacking Iranians and Lebanese Hezbollah who were supposedly there, not to help defend Syria against tens of thousands of terrorist invaders, but to attack Israel.
