The ABC stands in contempt of logic. A deliberate policy of suppression of public policy debate on population growth, in collaboration with Government and Big Business, is arguably what used to be referred to as right wing extremism.
The rich take control of vast industries driven by population growth and energy consumption. The money flows into the coffers of large corporations and the wealthy as the majority struggle to pay bills in a degrading environment.
The proletariat is pacified with economic mumbo jumbo like "wages have risen 34% since 19XX." The implication being that everybody is better off due to brilliant economic management by a talented series of governments. The reality is that these Governments have only one tool at their disposal in Australia. They pump up population growth using mass migration whose level is driven only by an economic indicator called GDP Growth. There is no evidence that any other social, environmental or economic criterion is used to determine the rate of migration.
GDP is a meaningless term. GDP per capita has meaning - if its true meaning can be determined.
Meanwhile we have a Government declaring war on people within Iraq for the third time in 22 years. Is the explanation provided to "the people" double-speak for "The US told us that if we are obedient they will be our buddy."?
The Government's Key Performance Indicators from 2002 to 2012 included:
- Compound annual growth in homelessness of 3.2% (doubling every 22 years)
- Compound annual growth in house prices.........
- Compound annual decline in productivity -1%
- Compound annual population growth 1.5%
- Compound annual per capita GDP growth 0.9%
- Compound annual growth in Commonwealth Budget per capita 6-8%
