We've isolated, disinfected, distanced, masked and tested
Lined up for any nasal itch or throat with stitch In case we were infected
We've vaccinated, validated, Q R coded with dedication
Whilst cancers in our organs run rampant, undetected

Locked within the "Ring of steel " from Portsea to Point Cook
We waved a Face- Time greeting, at least we got a look!
As months went by and old we got we wondered, not unreasonably
If wrinkled brow and leather arms would be unrecognisable.
Alone we stayed to break that chain of passing on the bug
It worked. At last we reached the day of "zero," no new cases!
But no sooner did we reach this goal than we were in another cycle
A relative of the bug we knew had flown in VIP class.
From that time on we lost control, the numbers ever higher
Reminded us that we're not free while this thing moves amongst us
Invisible, insidious and now in every corner
Each interaction fraught with risk could land us in hot water!!
Alas for nought, denied our sport we daily read the numbers,
The bug evolves from A to Zee, from Omicron to Omega
Let loose amongst us now, it seems it spreads with gay abandon
Mr Hazzard, says, "We'll all get it," from New South Wales to London!
