Wil started from the premise that disgruntled "bad-guy" Australians resent refugees because they are taking Australian jobs.
He went on to talk about how unemployed people should take 2 year TAFE courses to improve their skills so they could beat those refugees to the jobs after they had been released from 2 year internment in detention centres.
So Wil thinks it is fair for Australians to compete against, and take the jobs of, refugees? He referred to a meritocracy where unemployed Australians were losers who don't deserve jobs. Let's not discuss the meritocracy of border control, as that would be far too controversial.
Wil's "jokes" sounded very confused and not very funny (to me); although he garnered some raucous support from a few like-minded confusees in the audience.
Did Wil also overlook that he is doing exactly what government and mass media support him in doing? Instead of focussing on unessential mass migration of the relatively wealthy; which inevitably has some impact on the level of unemployment amongst Australians consequentially displaced from jobs; Wil focussed on the issue Government and mass media want us to focus upon. The refugee red herring that distracts public discourse from the covert mass migration program!
Does Wil even understand the irony, or the subject matter, of his attempt at humour?
If not, I'm sure he could apply for a job at the ABC as they may concur with this arguably dysfunctional (and unfunny) state of mind; even if most people don't.
What? He's already worked there?
Glad I missed that.
