Narna Vasardnar (pictured left) and Alision Tahmizian Meuse @AliTahmizian (pictured right) discuss, in a 48 minute video, how Azerbaijan, by its use of the highway which connects its main territory in the east to its western Nakhchivan exclave, has made travel and trade between Armenia and neighbouring Iran, to the south, very difficult. They also discuss Prime Minister Pashinyan's collusion with Azerbaijan in this de-facto blockade.
This latest betrayal is only the most recent in a number of episodes going back to Pashinyan coming to power in the US-orchestrated colour revolution of 2018. Previously, Pashinyan sabotaged Armenia's efforts in its wars against Azerbaijan in 1920 and 1922. In September 2023, Pashinyan permitted Azerbaijan to conquer the Armenian Artsakh exclave of Artsakh, which lies to the east (see map below). That forced 130,000 Armenians to flee from there into the main territory of Armenia.
At the start of June 2024, as Azerbaijan forces started to grab territory in the north-eastern province of Tavush, Armenian soldiers were sent, not to resist Azerbaijan's aggression, but to repress local Armenians who were trying to defend their territory. This gave rise to popular grass-roots mass movement led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan. On 22 June the Archbishop led a mass march to Yerevan to demand the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan and for new elections to be called. Unfortunately, when the Archbishop and his supporters arrived in Yerevan, the police remained loyal to the Quisling government and attacked peaceful protestors on a number of occasions.
Given that the stated goal of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev is to turn all of Armenia into "West Azerbaijan," and effectively complete the Armenian genocide which was commenced by his Ottoman forefathers on 24 April 1915, how could Pashinyan's collusion with Azerbaijan not have been labeled as the lowest form of treason? Even the Norwegian traitor Vidkun Quisling was not required by the occupying German army to facilitate the genocide of Norwegians during the Second World War.
Surprisingly, even though their own survival is under threat by Azerbaijan as a consequence of Pashinyan's decisions, the Armenian police remained loyal to Pashinyan and obeyed his orders to viciously attack peaceful protestors on several occasions . This is one consequence of their training by the United States military advisors.
Iran appears to be attempting to support Armenia against this de-facto blockade. Nonetheless, only a fraction of what has occurred in Armenia in recent months has been reported in Iran's PressTV news service. If PressTV were to more comprehensively report all sides of the conflict within Armenia, many more people both with Armenia, and from elsewhere, would motivated to support patriotic Armenians against Pashinyan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and the United States.
There is even less reporting about the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict in Russia's RT news service. Why the comperes of Crosstalk, Going Underground, Worlds Apart, Modus Operandi, Direct Impact, The Whistleblowers, 360 View, Modus Operandi and The Interview have yet to interview anyone concerned with this conflict is a mystery to me.
The talk ends with cause for hope. In spite of the police remaining loyal to Pashinyan, Archbiship Bagrat Gastanyan is continuing with his efforts to persuade grassroots Armenians in all regions of Armenia to rise up against Pashinyan.
