About Syria

Contrary to claims by the mainstream and much of the supposed alternate newsmedia, the government of Syria is not a corrupt and unpopular dictatorship resorting to brutal repression and mass murder to defeat a popular uprising. The supposed "popular uprising" is in fact a terrorist war fought by foreign mercenaries and jihadists against the people of Syria. The terrorists are armed and paid for by the government of the United States and its regional allies including Turkey, Jordan and the even more reactionary feudal Arab states of Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

No government as hated by its own people, as it has been claimed that the Syrian Government was, could have hoped to have survived for more than a few months against a popular uprising without the support of a massive foreign armies of occupation. The supposedly hated Syrian government, without any foreign military forces to support it on its own soil, has somehow managed to defeat a supposedly popular uprising for more than three years now.

Conclusive evidence that the Syrian government had the overwhelming support of Syrians support of its people is the overwhelming vote for President Bashar al-Assad at the Syrian Presidential elections of 4 June 2014. " id="txtSubj4">4 In that election an overwhelming 10,319,723 Syrians, or 88.7% of the 74.42% of eligible voters who voted voted for Bashar al-Assad. A total of 65.15 of all eligible Syrian voter voted for al-Assad. The proportion would have be even higher had countries hostile to Syria, including France, not prevented Syrian expatriates from voting. Which leader of any of the supposed Western democracies can claim anywhere near as high a mandate as that which Bashar al-Assad received on 4 June 2014?

Until March 2011, when the current insurgency against Syria began, the war strategies of the United States and its allies seemed to be succeeding. They had conquered Afghanistan and Iraq and would invade Libya and overthrow its government. However, their plans to overthrow the Syrian government of have not gone according to plan. Three years later, prior to the (Saudi and Qatar financed) so-called "Islamic State" insurgency, the skill, bravery and sacrifice of Syrian soldiers and their support from the Syrian population resulted in the decisive defeat and almost total elimination of the terrorist invaders within Syria. " id="txtSubj2">2

However, no country, not even a country as resourceful and resilient as Syria, can indefinitely defend itself against an almost unlimited numbers of potential terrorists from the Islamic world, in addition to mercenaries and supposed Islamist converts from outside the Islamic world. Already 140,000 Syrians have died in the conflict and much of the countryside, housing and the productive resources of Syria have been ravaged by the terrorist invaders. If Syria is to survive it needs strong support from people outside of Syria and their governments.

To win that support for it is necessary to counteract the lies of the mainstream media with the truth. These pages on this web site is one place on which the truth can be found, or linked to elsewhere. Other sites in which the truth about Syria is to be found are listed ">below.

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem, delivered a speech on Monday at the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in which he affirmed that Syria supports any international effort to combat terrorism as long as it fully preserves civilians' lives and national sovereignty and is carried out according to international accords.

"The real intelligence that needs to be gotten to Syria and not to the White House is why their supplies keep being shipped in, and they are shipped in by planes by somebody and ISIS doesn't have any planes," he wondered. "It's the same story with Afghanistan. Why hundreds of tons of heroin leaves American bases in Afghanistan."

"Why are they carrying American weapons? They are carrying and using American weapons. And not the American weapons that they say they captured from the Iraqis. The US gave Iraqis AK-47s. They are carrying American M4 carbines. [It is] very difficult to get those things unless they are delivered directly from the United States by planes," Duff revealed.

"There is no doubt that Islamic State is an utterly reactionary sectarian force. But it is a force that came out of U.S. Policy and the destruction of the whole region. ISIS or Islamic State, is a direct result of U.S. Policy of fomenting religious, ethnic national differences, in Iraq, in Syria, as policy for the war in Iraq and for overthrowing the government in Syria. Again and again they have used absolutely reactionary groupings in these policies."

US President Barack Obama's "strategy to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL" is actually designed to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, an American political commentator says.

Rodney Martin, who is the chairman of the American Nationalist Association, www.ana-ann.com, and a host on the American Nationalist Network, the Association's internet radio station, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Monday.

The ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, control large parts of Syria's northern territory. ISIL sent its fighters into Iraq in June, quickly seizing vast expanse of land straddling the border between the two countries.

The sudden reversion of Washington to a 'war on terror' pretext for intervention in Syria has confused western audiences. For three years they watched 'humanitarian intervention' stories, which poured contempt on the Syrian President's assertion that he was fighting foreign backed terrorists. Now the US claims to be leading the fight against those same terrorists.

But what do Syrians think, and why do they continue to support a man the western powers have claimed is constantly attacking and terrorising 'his own people'? To understand this we must consider the huge gap between the western caricature of Bashar al Assad the 'brutal dictator' and the popular and urbane figure within Syria.

The recent beheadings of three Westerners, Foley, Sotloff and Haines, at the hands of the Islamic State (ISIS) has sparked a wave of indignation and strong condemnation by Western heads of state.

For anyone aware of what has been truly going on in Syria from the outset of the war in March 2011, there is something unusual in these strong statements, which are now the object of a wave of "humanitarian bombings" under a counter-terrorism mandate directed against the Islamic State.

The United States, along with members of the GCC, has been bombing Syria for two days, ostensibly to destroy the Islamic State.

US President Barack Obama recently delivered a national address outlining a four-point strategy to counter the threat posed by ISIL to the Middle East and beyond. Yet, given that ISIL was created by regional players acting under US auspices, we must ask what the real strategy behind this rhetoric emanating from POTUS about forming an international coalition to confront the terrorist threat is? Has Obama experienced a revelation on the road to regime change in Damascus or is the military option disguised as R2P still on the table?

One of the roles of leading politicians and top officials of the state is to enlist public support for policies which serve the goals of the upper stratum of the population from whose ranks they sometimes come and whose interests they almost invariably promote. When these policies are at odds with the interests of the majority, as they often are, the mobilization of public consent is possible only through deception. The deception is carried out through prevarication, equivocation, and fear-mongering, crystallized into misleading narratives which the mass media can be reliably counted on to amplify. So it is that Western officials have ramped up a campaign of deception to provide a pretext for military intervention in Syria to combat ISIS but which may very well serve as a Trojan horse to escalate the war on the Syrian government.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) had recently announced that a female fighter pilot led the United Arab Emirates Air Force (UAEAF) bombardment of ISIS on Syrian territory. According to the UAE's online news source 'The National' based in Abu Dhabi confirms its nation's first female pilot leading the fight against the Western created terrorist group ISIS reported that:

"Yousef Al Otaiba, the UAE's ambassador to the United States, confirmed on Thursday that the country's first female fighter pilot was involved in recent action against ISIL." He also said that "I can officially confirm that the UAE strike mission on Monday night was led by female fighter pilot Mariam Al Mansouri," he said. "She is a fully qualified, highly trained, combat-ready pilot and she is on a mission."

First, I must say that the pilot, Maj. Mariam Al Mansour who is employed by the government of the UAE leading the way by attacking ISIS targets in Syria deserves no praise or glory for participating in the bombardment of a sovereign nation.

Examples of how Major Mariam al-Mansouri is being used to promote war by the Australian newsmedia include: : (29/9/14) – Melbourne Age and SBS: (26/9/14) – SBS.

">Cairo, (SANA, 11 Apr 2014) The Evangelical Church in the Shubra area in Cairo, Egypt, held prayers for peace in Syria on Friday, with the participation of representative of Egyptian churches along with Muslim religious figures and political, jurist and civil society figures.

Abram Luis, founder of the "Popular Diplomacy for Egyptian-Syrian Relations" initiative, said that the initiative invited all churches in Egypt to participate in this event to send a message of love, peace and solidarity to Syrians. He said that 24 churches in Arab and foreign countries were contacted and they agreed to join in prayers on Friday for the sake of Syria, including churches in Jordan, Palestine, Abu Dhabi, Canada and the United States.

In August-September 2013, Barack Obama, David Cameron and François Hollande accused Syria of killing 1,400 opponents in the suburbs of Damascus. Denouncing that a red line had been crossed, they threatened to launch a punitive campaign against Assad's criminal regime. Shortly after, London withdrew, then Washington, and finally Paris. Commenting on these events, Seymour Hersh shows that President Obama knew nothing of what had actually happened, abused the ignorance of his interlocutors and lied when he claimed to have evidence of Syria's guilt.

"Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidarity to pure wind." – George Orwell.

US secretary of state John Kerry has just delivered what may turn out to be his most shameful moment in history. Kerry has been handed the baton of sabre-rattler-in-Chief by a President that has much vested interest in upholding his facade of "reluctant warmonger". Since President Obama declared his now infamous "red-line" over the use of chemical weapons in Syria; it has invariably been White House underlings and members of the State Department who are given the task of misleading the public – Kerry is not doing a very good job of it.
