POSITIONS VACANT
The Minister for Environment and Climate Change is seeking expressions of interest for up to seven positions on the Parks Victoria Board (the board) for a term of up to three years.
BACKGROUND
The board is established under the Parks Victoria Act 1998 and reports to the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, the Hon. Ryan Smith MP.
Parks Victoria manages Victoria's national, state, regional and metropolitan parks, conservation reserves, significant cultural assets and Melbourne's bays and major waterways on behalf of Government.
The board is responsible for ensuring Parks Victoria meets its fiduciary and legislative responsibilities, and for monitoring the delivery of services by Parks Victoria that fulfil its management responsibilities, in particular to the Secretary of the Department of Sustainability and Environment.
Parks Victoria’s mission is “to protect and improve Victoria’s parks and waterways for people forever.” It’s objectives are to:
* conserve park and waterway ecosystems
* protect cultural heritage in parks
* deliver better opportunities for people to use their parks and waterways
* prepare for, respond to and recover from fire and other emergencies.
