Lies last century to justify the Iraq war have become true in Gaza in 2023, yet the US and Australia fail to react. In 1990, US President George Bush promoted a total fabrication that Iraqis had thrown Kuwaiti babies out of incubators and had left them to die on the floor. On October 10, 1990, 15 year old Nayirah, daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador to the United States, kicked the propaganda off in a false testimony to the United States Congressional Human Rights Caucus, without saying who she was. Those 1999 lies were quoted and repeated many times by U.S. senators and President George Bush in their campaign to support Kuwait in the Gulf War. A public relations firm, Hill & Knowlton, had arranged the testimony.
The reason for citing this past war propaganda is the abject irony that, in Gaza now, there is no electricity to run incubators and no oxygen for the babies in the hospitals because Israel has carpet bombed the area. In one such case, in an almost hopeless effort to save some of these premature babies, medical personel from al-Shifa hospital in Gaza have taken them out of the useless incubators, wrapped a group of them in foil, and placed a hot water container near them. So many children have died in this Israeli revenge-abomination for a massacre that probably the IDF actually participated in,[1] but of those that survive, ultimately, many will be stateless orphans. One can only imagine the suffering that lies in wait for them.
Unless they were involved in war themselves, Westerners have never seen such brutality, on such a scale, in real time. I could compare it to the US carpet bombing of North Korea in the 1950s, which destroyed about one third of the infrastructure and the population, but there was no internet then, so it is as if the horror never happened for most of us. During the Vietnam war, the mainstream press actually published shocking photos and testimonies, which helped to bring about the end of that war. Since the Iraq war, however, after the great protests against it, the mainstream press stopped covering peace protests and only published propaganda - like the babies thrown from incubator lie - to justify our wars in Libya, Syria, Ukraine ...
These wars Australia formally supports make me afraid of my government because, if it is supporting the US-NATO and Israeli lies, in the face of full-blown atrocities - that everyone can now see as they happen - what will it allow to be done to Australians here, whose living standards and quality of life are already rapidly deteriorating?
Our prime minister has come out fully in support of Israel. I wonder, is he stupid? Has he no idea of history? Hasn't he read of the Balfour Agreement and the Nakba? Is he so dependent for his position on US approval that he will do and say anything they want, endorse any absurdity, any atrocity? It seems so.
Does Anthony Albanese believe that Australians in the majority still only watch the mainstream ABC and corporate news propaganda, so he will get away with this? Perhaps he compares his own performance to Zelensky's because the US is not yet sponsoring a war on Australian territory. Give it time.
If war and terrible things can happen 'over there,' then they can happen here. The problems in Palestine have a lot to do with mass migration and aggressive land-use planning.
You may accuse me of conflation, but I think that Albanese is already guilty of a terrible decision against the Australian population that will displace millions and ultimately make them hungry, thirsty, and unsheltered. He has organised the greatest stream of mass migration to Australia ever, which, at this rate, will lead to a population of 150 million within 80 years. What is more, he consulted none of us. Unfortunately Australian state governments, which control land, water, and power, have been taken over by the property development industry and have been preparing the way for this for years by giving planning law over to vested interest. State governments have positioned themselves to take over local government powers and have left citizens and residents with little legal power to object to new massive developments, tollways, and planning that intensively raises the cost of land and everything else, whilst hugely widening the wealth divide, and logistically imposes limitations to movement and natural amenity.
The mainstream press is pretending to air some of our horror at the associated inflation of food, water, fuel and housing, but if you've been around the block a few times, you know that this is just noise. The mainstream press is not going to help Australians to stop the migration flow and push for better government. And the mainstream press isn't going to stop the wars. And the United States is pushing for Australia to prepare for war with China, in our own region. And Albanese has agreed to new UK and US military bases in Australia.
Does Albanese think he lives on a different planet from the rest of us?
Albanese's party only won a bit over 30% of the first-preference vote. No wonder this tin-pot head of a dictatorial land-speculating, war-pushing ALP wants massive censorship of the internet, with draconian punishments for ill-defined 'crimes.'
Australians need to stand up for themselves, because their governments are running right over them. Our courts conduct secret trials against honest men who defend good values, like David McBride and Julian Assange. Australians need to stand up against the wars our government has signed us up for, because there is no justification for war.
