Protest: Australian Parliament 'discusses' Gaza, and the Facts

With the exception of some members of the cross-bench, mostly Greens, both Australia's houses of Parliament support Israel's war against more than 2 million Palestinians (who are also mostly Israeli citizens) crowded into the Gaza strip.

Unfortunately many of those who oppose the war have accepted Netanyahu’s story to justify his murder of more than 11,000 Palestinians so far. This story has been internationally reported with lurid enthusiasm, embellishment, and zero critical investigation, by the captive US-NATO press, supported by the collusion of heads of government and the ignorance or obedience of their parliaments.

Netanayu’s story is that on 7 October Hamas fighters killed, in cold blood, 260 Israeli civilians at the Supernova music festival. In fact, the Hamas fighters were trying to take those Israelis alive as hostages to hold in Gaza to negotiate the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, including children held indefinitely without trial.  The imprisonment of Palestinians for minor offences, or even without charges, basically as hostages by Israel, is a chronic situation, and hostage exchanges have occurred before.

This time, however, the situation was manipulated to create an excuse for the massacre and expulsion of the Palestinians of Gaza. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) on the festival scene were ordered to kill all the Hamas fighters without regard for the lives of their Israeli hostages. Then the killings were attributed to Hamas. The Hamas fighters were armed solely with Kalashnikov assault rifles and grenades, but injuries to the festival attenders showed that they were shelled from helicopters and tanks.  Surrounding settlement infrastructure was also destroyed by aerial bombing and tank-fire, with bodies there found burned alive, buried under rubble. How could Hamas have caused all of this destruction without planes, helicopters or tanks?

Not just another grab for real-estate by Israeli developers, this time it seems to be a bid by Israel and its western supporters to get sole control of the undeveloped gas fields off-shore, which are owned by Gaza Palestinians.
