Last Thursday 19 December 2024, Robert (Robbie) Barwick, the lead Citizen's Party (https://citizensparty.org.au) candidate for the Senate in Victoria, spoke to a protest outside the Mordialloc electoral office of the federal Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus. Robbie spoke in support of David McBride and a number of of other whistleblowers who had been unjustly prosecuted by Mark Dreyfus's department. He also spoke in support of former US Marine Corps pilot, Daniel (Dan) Duggan who fought in the First Gulf War of 1991.
Dan Duggan has been an Australian citizen since 2000. Although he has broken no Australian law, Dreyfus's department has imprisoned him 23 hours per day for more than 2 years, so far, in solitary confinement in the Bathurst prison. Dan Duggan was imprisoned on 21 October 2022, because, 10 years prior to that date, he had trained some Chinese pilots, amongst pilots of a number of other nationalities, at a pilot's school in South Africa. At the time many other former UK and US military pilots were also working as trainers at these schools, but Dan Duggan is the only one who has, so far, suffered adverse consequences as a result.
