The video from Twitter, which is embedded below, shows a young Israeli woman express her opinion that Israel's past and present treatment of Palestinians is unjust and how Prime Minister Netanyahu's current attempt, through mass murder by aerial bombardment, to ethnically cleanse the Gaza strip of its Palestinians, is morally repugnant.
It seems that many Israelis would like to see the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu removed, and it would be appropriate for him to be investigated under international law as a war criminal. His latest government had already given rise to many successive days of rioting in Israel because of the perception that it had become dangerously fascist. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's dehumanising comments about Palestinians as 'human animals', help define criminal intent in the illegal collective punishment of the inhabitants of the Gaza strip in the name of annihilating the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, which recently invaded Israel, killing over 1000 Israelis and taking about 200 hostages.
Palestinians have been told to leave Gaza via a single corridor leading towards the Sinai Desert, but they have been bombed by Israeli defense forces as they try to follow those instructions. Meanwhile, Gaza itself has been carpet-bombed whilst fuel, food and water have been cut off, in the illegal tactic of siege.
Furthermore, the only logical pathway out, via Egypt, has been blocked and destroyed by the Israelis. A miserable 20 trucks carrying aide for the Gazan refugees have been stopped for many days at the Egyptian side of the border, inspiring the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to go to the border himself on 21 October to plead for the aide to be delivered - unsuccessfully.
On top of this, the Israeli defense minister has called for Guterres to resign his position from the UN for merely saying in a much longer and considered speech, that the situation in Gaza did not arise from nothing: "This most recent violence does not come in a vacuum. The reality is that it grows out of a long-standing conflict, with a 56-year long occupation and no political end in sight." But this was only part of Guterres's longer speech, which urged the parties not to do things in the short-term that would hinder a long term solution.
It seems logically incredible that the Israelis will not acknowledge, like adults, what all the world can see, that history shows they have some responsibility in this conflict. But this denial may be something of an entrenched tactic in an unfair battle where one side feels they can only retain the family house by trying to claim an absolute moral high ground as a reason to refuse to negotiate in a very messy divorce. Yes, Israel's Jewish population and ever expanding housing estates were largely created by the Jewish diaspora from Nazi Germany that tried to exterminate them, but why doesn't Israel show empathy for the Palestinians, who have been pushed, ironically, into the equivalent of prison camps themselves by Jewish expansion? Why did Israel practise an apartheid regime against the Palestinians? How can that be defended?
But things have now gone much further. It is not okay to besiege, bomb out of existence, and push peoples out into desert refugee camps, then steal more of their land while the world is watching. The current war in Gaza could be ended without that war escalating into a massive regional war and thence, possibly, a global nuclear conflagration: Ordinary Israelis, like the woman in the embedded video, need to vocally oppose the mass murder of the original native inhabitants of Palestine, and call for an end to the corrupt, murderous rule of the current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and bring him to justice.
If that were to happen, it would the best possible way for the Jewish and the Palestinian inhabitants of Palestine to find a way to live together. The situation calls for a one-state solution, and a secular state.
