Yesterday, on 8 December 2023, Miko Peled, spoke at a public meeting about Israel's murderous war against Gaza, which commenced over two months ago on 7 October and the broader context of the history of the Palestine/Israel conflict going back more than 75 years. Much of what he said from his own personal experience. The meeting was held in the public library of Bethlehem in the US state of New York. Miko's father, Mattityahu (Matti) Peled, was a general in the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and helped to plan and launch the 1967 Six-Day War. [1]

In spite of Miko's staunch Zionist upbringing, a suicide bombing on 4 September 1997, which killed his niece Smadar Elhanan and four other Israeli civilians, paradoxically, caused him to question the whole basis of Israel and Zionism. From that he gained a proper understanding of Israel, Zionism and its oppression of native Palestinians and of Israel's conflicts with neighbouring countries.

Miko Peled then became become a very effective and outspoken opponent of Israel and supporter of the Palestinian resistance. Below is his 1-hour-and-48-minute talk, which includes questions, heckling and other attempts to disrupt the meeting.
