The Human Chain for Assange was attended by more people than we have seen at any Free Assange demonstration in Australia to date. SBS says, "Thousands," Victoria Police estimate 3000. This is enormous by modern Australian standards. They marched northwards from the area of the Shrine of Rememberance and the Governor's house, then back. Speeches were given by John Shipton (Julian's father) and Australian Army SAS whistleblower and army lawyer, David McBride.
