(This article has been adapted from a double-sided A5 leaflet, the PDF file from which it can be printed is here.) Yesterday, on Friday 3 May, World Press Freedom Day, four members of the Bring Julian Assange Home Parliamentary Support Group (Assange Support Group) - Andrew Wilkie, Josh Wilson, David Shoebridge and Bridget Archer - issued a press release [1] in which they “urge[d] the United States to discontinue the long, expensive and punishing process that prevents Mr Assange from returning home to his family in Australia.” The press release concluded “there is no justice, compassion, or reasonable purpose in the further persecution of Julian Assange when one considers the harsh conditions of detention he has already endured.”

The University of Melbourne is censoring graduating Palestinian and pro-Palestine students and is withholding graduation images from ceremonies taking place this week at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, Melbourne.
Across multiple faculties and departments, graduating students are expressing solidarity for Palestine by wearing keffiyeh’s and carrying signs demanding that Uni Melb divest from arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin.
The bombings continue to destroy residential buildings, schools and hospitals. the blockade is tightening and the slaughter of Palestinians is escalating.
The global Palestine solidarity movement must continue to stand with Palestine, now more than ever.
We need to take march for Palestine and demand a REAL end to the bombing; a full withdrawal of Israel troops from Gaza, lift the siege, stop colonising the West Bank, release all Palestinian political prisoners now. We also call on the Australian government to cut ties with Apartheid Israel.
On November 15th, 300 staff, students and alumni called on the University of Melbourne to take action against Israel’s genocidal attack on Gaza. They demonstrated their support for the people of Palestine by staging a sit-in at the University of Melbourne Parkville campus. In coordination with the Boycott, Divest, Sanctions (BDS) movement, attendees called on the University of Melbourne to stop colluding in Israel’s war crimes and terminate its 13-million-dollar partnership with weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin.

Planning Applications are at Frankston City Council for 14, 15 and 16 storey apartment blocks of up to 60 metres height on the beachside of Nepean Hwy, and only 200 metres from Frankston’s scenic beach. The towers would overshadow Kananook Creek, the beach, nearby homes, exacerbate wind tunnel effects and change the face of Frankston forever.

Meet at Vic State Library for 11am rally and march 3 July 2022, Julian Assange's birthday. Australia's award winning journalist, outstanding publisher, creator of WikiLeaks, and possibly the most famous, heroic, and persecuted person in the world, turns 51 years old. This is his 4th birthday spent locked away in Belmarsh prison, London. His previous 7 birthdays were spent locked away in the Ecuadorian Embassy.
Tomorrow (Friday 18 June) from 7:30AM until 9:00 AM outside the Melbourne British Consulate, Supporters of Julian Assange will be protesting against his illegal continued imprisonment by the British government. Apparently, Julian Assange, who has not been found guilty of any crime after more than two years imprisonment in solitary confinement 23 hours per day in Belmarsh Prison, is being kept there awaiting the lodgement of the United States' appeal against Judge Vanessa Baraitser's ruling of 6 January 2021 to disallow the extradition of Julian Assange - an outrageous abuse of procedure. Then from 6:30pm outside Flinders Street Station, other Melbourne supporters of Julian Assange will be holding their weekly vigil.
The inordinate length of time that the US prosecution is taking to lodge its appeal seems to be an indication that they are struggling to come up with any arguments that would hold any weight in the British Appeals court. That the British Judicial system has apparently not set a deadline for the US prosecutors can only be wilful negligence on its part. It is long past time that the Australian Government should have acted to bring this outrage to an end.
Please find the time to come to one or both protests which are being held in Melbourne tomorrow.
The details, from Facebook, for the first protest are:
Event by Melbourne 4 WikiLeaks
British Consulate Melbourne
Price: Free · Duration: 1 hr 30 min
Public · Anyone on or off Facebook
Father and half brother of Julian Assange, John and Gabriel Shipton, are currently touring the USA fighting to save Julian's life on the #HomeRun4Julian tour.
Right now, Chicago is feeling privileged to be hosting John and Gabriel as part of the national tour. Pressure is on the Biden administration to drop its drive to extradite and persecute Assange (www.AssangeDefense.org/tour).
Please join us in solidarity early Friday morning outside the British Consulate at 90 Collins St Melbourne.
John and Gabriel will be at the British Consulate in Chicago at the exact same time. For them it will be Thursday afternoon, for us, Friday morning.
If there is a live stream we will somehow screen it outside the British Consulate.
The movement to free Julian is growing. Freedom fighters of the world unite!
Love Is Our Resistance!
